Ways to Use

1. Ask one question at each thinking skill level as the story is read aloud to the child/children.
2. Educator asks one question at each thinking skill level as students work in a small group guided reading session.
3. Educator asks specific questions from the page when working with an individual student to evaluate students ability to respond appropriately to higher level questions.
4. Educator uses one higher level question (analysis, synthesis, evaluation) to motivate discussion and varied opinions in response to the story he/she has read or that the students have read independently.
5. Educator has students respond to the evaluation question in a response journal.
6. Educator may use one or two of the questions to develop an activity centre.
7. Educator uses an evaluation question as a motivator for a class debate.
8. Parent asks one question at each thinking skill level as a story is being read aloud to child/children.
9. Parent uses higher level questions (analysis, synthesis, evaluation) to motivate discussion and share opinions in response to a story the child/children have heard or have read independently.
