Ways to Use
- Ask one question at each thinking skill level as the story is read aloud to the child/children.
- Educator asks one question at each thinking skill level as students work in a small group guided reading session.
- Educator asks specific questions from the page when working with an individual student to evaluate students ability to respond appropriately to higher level questions.
- Educator uses one higher level question (analysis, synthesis, evaluation) to motivate discussion and varied opinions in response to the story he/she has read or that the students have read independently.
- Educator has students respond to the evaluation question in a response journal.
- Educator may use one or two of the questions to develop an activity centre.
- Educator uses an evaluation question as a motivator for a class debate.
- Parent asks one question at each thinking skill level as a story is being read aloud to child/children.
- Parent uses higher level questions (analysis, synthesis, evaluation) to motivate discussion and share opinions in response to a story the child/children have heard or have read independently.
